The protection of the planet's water resources and support for local communities are among the points of the Aliaxis Group's sustainable growth program.
This year's World Environment Day, established by the United Nations in 1972, is dedicated to preventing and combating plastic pollution for a sustainable future.
According to WWF, every year about 8 million pieces of plastic waste enter our seas, of which 53 tons in the Mediterranean Sea, and the health of marine ecosystems is increasingly threatened.
How can a company like the Aliaxis Group intervene directly and promote actions that address the problem of plastic in the sea? Thanks to the collaboration with Sea the Change, Aliaxis Group supports an active Fishing for Litter project that involves the recovery of marine litter in the Adriatic Sea through the involvement of local fishermen.
According to the definition proposed by the European project KIMO, Fishing for Litter projects consist of the "creation of a virtuous circle capable of working together with the fisheries sector to reduce waste at sea".
Sea the Change proposes "active" Fishing for Litter projects that allows Aliaxis to support ad hoc waste collection trips in the Adriatic Sea during which local fishermen dedicate themselves exclusively to the recovery of waste present at sea.
The aim is to allow fishermen to enhance their work by cleaning up the seas and offering a fundamental service that benefits the entire community and marine ecosystems.
As a testament to Aliaxis' commitment to the local community, the June 10, 2023 release has been included in the program of the festival "Into the blue- sea fest 2023" organized by Fondazione Cetacea, partner of the initiative, which was held in Rimini in those days.
The proposed activities contributed to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, SDGs number 13, 14 and 17 and are in line with Aliaxis' values and sustainability strategy.
We envision a world where individual fishermen and companies team up to remove litter from our seas.
Sea the Change and Aliaxis Group together for a cleaner and healthier sea.
