We participated in Achema 2022 to present Aliaxis solutions for the correct treatment, recovery and recycling of resources and materials for the benefit of the environment

Achema was back in attendance and the Aliaxis Group participated with a new approach and a new stand concept, waiting to contribute to a new push in the field of innovative and sustainable technologies for the process industry.

Aliaxis hosted live events with industry experts to address today's most pressing needs and key issues such as carbon neutral manufacturing, circular economy, water recycling and reuse, alternative technologies to feed a growing population and resource recovery from waste management.

ACHEMA dedicated the first day of the event to the Hydrogen Economy, a new development opportunity towards a future with reduced environmental impact, and Aliaxis supported this initiative to present solutions in thermoplastic materials.

You can watch all the speeches on our YouTube channel in the playlist dedicated to live streams from Achema

Emergency Life Support - Ungheria

Monday 22 August

Water Treatment Unit for emergency solutions

Emergency Life Support usually refers to treatments and techniques performed in an emergency in order to sustain life after the failure of one or more vital organs, but in the event of natural disasters or conflicts, even basic services, such as health networks distribution of water, can become fundamental.

An extremely damaged water distribution network does not guarantee the supply of fresh water and adequate sanitation.

The immediate availability of potable water can make all the difference and portable water treatment units can be an outstretched hand.

Hydrogen Economy

Monday 22 August

Moving towards a hydrogen ready future with advanced plastic piping systems

Achema dedicated this day to the theme of the hydrogen economy, an important driver towards a future with zero greenhouse gas emissions, and Aliaxis supported this initiative by presenting solutions in thermoplastic materials.

Moving towards a hydrogen ready future with 100% H2-ready PE gas networks

As a global community, we need to act urgently to tackle climate change and combat the effects of global warming. Renewable energy alone will not be enough to help us achieve our zero-emissions commitment by 2050. It will need a partner…

Saving resources using efficient water filtration systems

Water covers 70% of our planet, and it's easy to think that it will always be abundant. However, fresh water, the stuff that we drink, that we bathe in, that we irrigate our agricultural fields with is incredibly rare.

Only 3% of the world's water is fresh water and two-thirds of that is hidden in frozen glaciers or otherwise unavailable for our use.

Many of the water systems that keep ecosystems thriving and feed a growing human population have become stressed. Rivers, lakes and aquifers are drying up or becoming too polluted to use.

More than half of the world's wetlands have disappeared. Agriculture consumes more water than any other source and wastes much of it due to inefficiencies.

Climate change is altering weather and water patterns around the world, causing shortages and droughts in some areas and flooding in others.

Circular Economy - Germany

Tuesday 23 August

Copper recovery through upcycling

The unique use of resources for the production of mass goods is in open contrast with the finite availability of resources on the planet and with the very idea of sustainability.

In a few decades or centuries, the previously used sources of non-renewable raw materials will be exhausted.

Water efficiency through reverse osmosis

The circular economy takes the material cycle of nature as a model and seeks to achieve multiple uses without waste (zero waste) and without emissions (zero emissions).

The challenge is to make the transition to a circular economy to ensure a permanent and sustainable supply.

Precious metal from e-waste

The volume of waste produced in the last 10 years has reached critical levels of management, stimulating in many countries the need for active participation for conscious management.

Innovative landfill gas collection technology

The challenge of generating value from waste represents the possibility of transforming a serious problem into a great opportunity.

Alternative proteins - Israel

Wednesday 24 August

Protein Juice production from microalgae cultivation

Consumers around the world love animal-based protein so much that in 2020 they ate 574 million tons of meat, fish and eggs, almost 75 kilograms per person.

And the amount consumed is growing, especially in developing economies. Yet concerns about the environmental costs of raising all the animals we eat, their treatment and the human health consequences of consuming meat, fish, dairy products and eggs are growing even faster.

That's why alternative proteins have transformed from a niche product to a mainstream phenomenon in recent years. Plant-based meats are now a fixture in fast-food restaurants around the world, and plant-based milks are a household staple.

Sustainable food - Norway

Thursday 25 August

Innovative aquaculture systems for a biosecurity increase

As the world's population continues to grow, much more effort and innovation will be urgently needed to sustainably increase agricultural and livestock production.

The urgency to improve the global supply chain, reduce food losses and waste, and ensure that all those suffering from hunger and malnutrition have access to nutritious food.

Many in the international community believe it is possible to eradicate hunger in the next generation and many communities are working together to achieve this goal.

There are many elements of traditional peasant knowledge which, enriched by the most recent scientific knowledge, can support productive food systems.

Efficient waste recovery through sustainable chemical-physical processes

In this historical moment of lack of raw materials, the recovery of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, vehicles, WEE waste, rubber and plastics can represent a valid alternative to extraction and production processes that are still very costly in terms of use of resources and environmental impact.
